TCRA deactivates over 47,000 SIM cards using fraud detection system to combat cybercrime
The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has deactivated 47,728 SIM cards and blacklisted 39,028 National Identification Numbers (NINs) linked to online crime and fraudulent mobile phone activities. The enforcement action, supported by fraud detection and monitoring capabilities, forms part of ongoing national efforts to curb cybercrime and OTT bypass fraud while strengthening the integrity of digital communications services.
